About
About climatecontrolledstorageunits.com
We show what each storage facility says about climate control, with the source, so you can compare quickly and know what to ask.
How we write the answers
Each answer starts with a short, direct answer, then explains it. When we state a fact, we link to where it comes from, in the sentence where it appears.
We only use sources you can trust without taking our word for it: U.S. government agencies, the Library of Congress, the National Archives, the Smithsonian, university extension and conservation programs, and the Self Storage Association. We don't use storage companies, storage marketplaces or moving companies as sources. If a fact is only available from one of them, we leave it out.
Some answers also use our own data. We checked the websites of 4,449 facilities that we list, and those numbers are labeled "From our own data". How we verify facilities explains the method.

How listings work
Listing is free. A facility appears here only if its own website says it offers climate-controlled units, and we quote the line we found. Ratings and hours come from Google. We don't rent units or take bookings, so always confirm prices and conditions with the facility.
Who runs the site
The site is run by Corey Palmer, who also writes the storage answers and sets the rules for how we check facility websites. The same team runs a few other storage directories, each built around a single feature:
- 24 Hour Storage Units: storage facilities with 24-hour access
- Storage Units Within 5 Miles: storage units close to where you live
- Storage Units With Electricity: storage units with power outlets
Spot a mistake?
